License & Release Agreement

By submitting your story (“Story”) and photo (“Photo”) to the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”), you represent/warrant and agree to the following:

  1. You are at least 18 years old.
  2. You are the author of the Story, which is your original work and does not constitute an infringement of any valid copyright, and DOL’s rights to use the Story, as described in the next paragraph, will not infringe upon or violate any rights of any third party.
  3. You grant DOL a royalty-free, nonexclusive, irrevocable license to copy, create derivative works, and publicly distribute, display and perform the Story and Photo worldwide in any and all formats, whether in print or electronically.
  4. The Story/Photo is provided to DOL without any expectation of compensation, either now or in the future, and you hereby waive any claim against DOL for compensation.
  5. DOL may publish your name in connection with the Story/Photo.
  6. For any other individual identified in the Story, you have received his/her written consent.
  7. You release and agree to hold harmless and indemnify DOL, its employees and agents against liability, including costs, for actual or alleged direct or indirect infringement of, or inducement to infringe, any copyright or trademark arising out of DOL’s use of the Story/Photo, and any actual or alleged violation of an individual’s privacy and/or publicity rights, provided you are reasonably notified of such claims and/or proceedings.
  8. This License and Release and any disputes arising in connection with it are governed by federal law.
